IF YOU HAVE TO CRY, GO OUTSIDE

Just wrapped up this life changing book by Kelly Cutrone , the founder of People's Revolution (a public relations, marketing and branding firm). I say life changing instead of amazing because I know that after reading this book I now have a new awareness to add to what I have been becoming aware of through life.
Kelly's story was very inspirational to me. I read this book in 2 nights, faster than I have read a book in a long time. It was the manner in which she spoke to me as if telling me, "This is how it is and I am not going to cover it in fucking roses". Exactly the way I like to be spoken to; the truth , just as it is. This book was what I had to read right now. I totally interrupted The Celestine Prophecy to read this book. The Celestine Prophecy is about how coincidences in life lead you to your destiny. In other words, we can call this Serendipity. My new favorite word.
It was meant for me to read this book right now. I have been watching Kell on Earth religiously since the first episode. I remember watching The Hills and telling myself "who is this powerful woman?" every time the camera focused on Kelly. I just did not know how to "rule the world" like her. The past few days have been coincidences after coincidences with Kelly Cutrone . I Googled Kelly to find her story and there was nothing. I did find her on FB and Twitter. Right before I found her I had twittered about how hot I thought her baby daddy was. On Facebook I had to let her know that she was my idol. Guess what ? She responded to both.
I could not believe it, my first thought was that an intern probably responded but my gut feeling was telling me that it was her. I just thought to myself " wow , she's totally down to earth. Not everyone will take time out like that to respond to some total stranger." ( BTW I was right. Kelly does mention in her book that she tries to respond to her messages personally.) That's when I did a little more research, found out about the book and ordered it for pick up at my nearest Barnes and Noble.
I want to work for myself and run a really successful business. The route I have been going, was only going to get me half way there. I needed that extra umph. This book was my umph.
It's funny how Kelly mentions creating a new religion for yourself. I had no idea, until now, that this is what I have been doing all along. For this past year , I have been working on finding myself and to figure out a way to work for myself on my own time and at the same time make a living. I have been reading books like A New Earth, The Power of now, The secret, and Celestine Prophecy. I am a strong believer in astrology and I do believe that things happen for a reason. I have also been interested in reading about Saraswati one of the Hindu Goddesses because she reflects who I am perfectly. and look... it's all working out for me.
I want to take this time and thank Kelly Cutrone for writing this book. This is one life out of many that she has changed.

"Is there anything I can do for you today?"

I recently just finished watching Groundhog Day for the first time. I have attempted to watch many times before. I have lost track of how many times. I just couldn't stand sitting there watching the same thing happen , over and over and over again. When I finally finished watching it, I was able to see the lesson behind it. You only live once, so do what you want to do today. Stop holding things for tomorrow because tomorrow may never come.
My favorite line of the movie was: " Is there anything I can do for you today?" when Bill Murray's character Phil tells Rita when he finally wakes up in bed and she is still laying next to him. Tomorrow finally came but there was no guarantee that another one would come after that. "Is there anything I can do for you today?" is something a lot of people should think about when treating someone they like/love. Treat your mate with love TODAY, not yesterday or tomorrow.

Mujer 2000 - Beef Pastelitos

Time: 20 minutes
Serving: about 20 small ones , 10 large ones
How much: about $12

There are two parts to this recipe. The dough and the filling. Since it was my first time making anything, I decided to skip out on making the dough and concentrate on the filling. I substituted the dough but buying some La Fe Dough disc. You can find the dough disc in the freezer section of your supermarket. Another “short cut” I did was not make any seasoning. I was going to do it at first, and buy peppers, garlic and onions but then I found out that you can buy “complete seasoning” already made by Goya , also at your local supermarket. Ay, yeah I know, I look like a lazy bum, but give me some time to be able to make a whole meal from scratch.

Ground Beef-
Ingredients
1 pound of meat (pork, chicken , or beef)
1 chopped up onion
1 chopped of red pepper
3 smashed garlic cloves
chopped vegetables
2 smashed peppers
2 spoons of salt
1 spoon of european salt
1/2 spoon of oregano
1/2 can of tomato soup
raisins ( i added this)
Preperation:
Season the meat with salt , oregano, and european salt
Sauté the seasoning a little and add the meat, moving it until it loses the red color and routs
Add the tomato soup
move it well and cook at low fire while uncovered until it becomes soft
serve as stuffing or main course

Mujer 2000 Project

I have not been a huge fan of cooking, but I am a huge fan of eating , especially Dominican food. Ever since I came back from vacation back in September from Dominican Republic, I can't stop eating Dominican food thanks to my friends' moms Angela and Zulnilda who cooked some good ass meals during my stay.
I have been trying to find the food with the same taste from local restaurants up in the North Bronx but unfortunately there isn't any good food up here. Tons of restaurants but no good food. Just last week , while @ the "heartbreak hotel" for a few days, one of my besties (Alicia) cooked her ass off and fed me and the other guests. This inspired me to learn how to cook and to stop buying nasty food off the streets. I decided to use the Mujer 2000 cookbooks because that is what my mom has been using for as long since I can remember and the lady can cook! The Mujer 2000 series has 3 volumes. The first Volume went into print in the 70's and it has not been out of print since. It is THE Dominican cook book. I haven't heard of a Dominican household that does not have it. The top Dominican cooks have used these books to learn the basics of Dominican cooking.
The book is in the Spanish language , therefore I will need to translate it. In addition to the translation , I will add the cost of the meal, amount of servings and the duration of time it takes to make the meal.
This project is kind of like the Julia/ Julie project (which I have yet to check out the movie, must do soon) . You can see all of my cooking adventures right here on www.buzygurl.com .

Fashion week FALL 2010

NYC Fashion week came and went. I honestly was not as into it as past years . Must have been the weather. I just hate dressing up for cold weather. I did get a chance to check out some of the lines on Style.com . I picked out some of my favorite pieces.

Quote of today :

This is Paolo Coelho's quote of the week. This quote is very applicable to a situation I had today... again , serendipity.

Whenever we need to make a very important decision it is best to trust our instincts, because reason usually tries to remove us from our dream, saying that the time is not yet right. Reason is afraid of defeat, but intuition enjoys life and its challenges.

Me? I dont have a big ego.

I announce most of what I am feeling on my private Facebook and Twitter pages. Chances are that many of my followers are thinking ,"TMI". I feel that it is not TMI. If I do not think it is, then why should anyone? I like writing about my feelings to let others know , they aren't alone when they feel the same way. I feel like those that never speak about their feelings most likely want to appear a certain way in front of the "public". That is called "not keeping it real".

This is where the whole ego thing comes in. Some people are so much about their ego that they utterly miss out on what their role in life is. They are so busy trying to be someone they are not to get the approval of society. Yeah, they may seem untroubled, but those are the same people that wake up dreading to get out of bed each morning.

Through out my time off from the "real world" , almost a year and a half now. I have carried out my life in a way that is not considered “the norm”. (Please remember that this is me we're talking about , and in no way, shape or form am I telling you to quit your 9-5). Like every other human, I thought that a 9-5 was what I was supposed to do. I was miserable.

Being laid off gave me a new lease on life to find myself and to know what makes me happy. In a year and a half I have had the time to start my own jewelry company, work and learn the night life business (which means that if I wanted to open up a club one day, I could if I want to- definitely not in my plans though) , go on tour for a month with my bestie's band, travel some more, go to the beach whenever I felt like it, start my book, and a couple of other projects i’ll keep on the hush right now. You would think I was making lots of money. I don’t care about money. All these things have made me a much happier person because those are things I love to do. If i can keep doing this for the rest of my life, trust me that I would.

Girls Inc.; Strong , Smart and Bold

I was just watching Boyz N the Hood when the Girls Inc. commercial came on. I got curious, as always and looked it up. Here is what I found out about Girls Incorporated:

Girls Incorporated® is a nonprofit organization that inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. With local roots dating to 1864 and national status since 1945, Girls Inc. has responded to the changing needs of girls through research-based programs and public education efforts that empower girls to understand, value, and assert their rights. In 2006, Girls Inc. reached over 800,000 girls through Girls Inc. affiliates, our website, and educational publications.

If you have been reading my blog for a while, then you understand my obsession with making a difference in this world. I seriously believe that I was put here to help people out. During these past few days I have been thinking about where to help. I know that I definitely want to work with women to help them become stronger individuals. A couple of years ago I had the opportunity to mentor a group of junior high school girls from Sleepy Hollow middle school. We lost touch and they recently found me on Facebook. You could only imagine the awesome feeling I had knowing that they went away for college and have made it on to the Dean's list and how old I felt knowing that my girls are all grown up now.

Finding this website was what the ladies from Sex and the City would call a "cosmic chance" or what you may know as serendipity (another one of my obsessions). Just contacted them for more information on how to volunteer.

If you would like to enroll the girls in your life into this outstanding program CLICK HERE.

Missed me ?

Sorry I have been M.I.A. I have too much going on. I finally shot for the Endless Noise look book. The photos came out amazing. The look book should be going in your mail boxes by next week. Here is a sneak peak if you have not seen the website yet:

All Black Everything? She's off that !

I have been having a hard time buying clothes for the past two weeks because I have mostly been wearing black this season. So when I go to stores, I can't picture myself with anything on the racks. I end up buying more black, gray or navy blue. This video inspired me to man up and get over the black.
