Picked up the Book of Secrets over the weekend when I was browsing through Barnes & Noble and it caught my eye. I have heard of Deepak Chopra, I follow him on Twitter, but I have not been interested in reading his books until that day. When the student is ready , the teacher appears right? It is hard for me to put down. The main focus of this book is to "help you live a life with meaning and shape your destiny." I have posted some quotes on Facebook for your reading pleasure.

Beauty Review: ORIGINS Check and balance Facewash

I only used the Origins check and balance face wash twice before finding out one of the ingredients is hydrolyzed wheat protein. I recently had an allergic reaction to the Maybelline Great Lash Mascara which contains wheat oil. I am now obsessed with looking at ingredients of anything I put on my skin. I did not get any allergic reaction from the face wash but it's better to be safe than sorry. I vouch for this product. It left my face feeling really clean and soft the two times I used it. It is best recommended for combination skin.

Not only is it one of my favorite prints , but it reminds me of mom's outfits back in the day, she loved herself some Houndstooth. Another big trend right now is HUGE clutches. Because of you , learning to read and spell was made fun in grade school, Reading Rabbit for Macintosh was my favorite game to play during computer class. In H.S. when I was introduced to PC's, I still stood loyal to Macintosh at home. I found PC's to be so blah, everything about the Macintosh was just colorful and fun. In college my ibook made me feel chic in every way. It went perfect with my dorm decor and it just looked great sitting on a table at the library as I typed endless amounts of papers while on ichat. My itunes and ipod helped me dance my way through college. After college my itouch made train rides to work go by faster. Now through my Macbook I blog and let the world wide web know about myself and my jewelry line. Thank you Steve Jobs.

Product Review: Blinc Mascara

I have always had issues with mascara. Either I am allergic or they are messy. For a couple of years I have been using the Maybelline Colossal , then I started using the Maybelline The Falsies. Both worked fine but were messy and I have to put on layers to get the look I love. In this month's Birchbox I received a sample of Blinc Mascara. I was scared to try it due to allergies, but I took the risk once I read that it was non-irritating. I have been wearing it almost everyday. My eyes do no get watery when applying and I do not need to apply make-up remover to remove it! How so? Well you see, the mascara creates little tubes around each lash, it then binds the lashes so that it won't run, smudge, clump or flake even when you rub your eyes. My eyelashes look thicker and longer than ever without feeling as if it's being weighed down by product. Removing it is as easy as washing your face with warm water. The tubes slid right into your hands with no raccoon eye mess. Its a little pricy for mascara but totally worth it and strongly recommended.

Review: Miss Jessie's Rapid Recovery Treatment

Used this Miss Jessie's on my hair for the second time today. The first time I tried it was the Saturday I was stuck at home because of Hurricane Irene. I did not follow directions fully at that time. You are supposed to leave it in your hair for 30 minutes while in the shower. The heat from the shower is what makes it work. With my luck, we did not have enough warm water that day. So I wasted some product. Yesterday I tried it again and my hair was more silky and shiny than usual. My curls bounced back with more definition and let me not forget how great my hair smelled. I got this travel sized tub at Ricky's for about $8.99 and can be used up to three times (once a week). The big tub is $50.00 . I will absolutely invest in the big tub for next time.

Birchbox Goodie and Review : June Jacobs Papaya Purifying Masque

I received the June Jacobs Papaya Purifying Masque about a month ago and have been using it once a week. I still have some left in this 0.5 fl oz sample from Birchbox. I massaged it into my face and left it on for about 15 minutes while I got some work done (recommended time is 3-10 minutes), then washed it off with warm water in the shower (kill two birds with one stone) . My face felt amazingly soft (like a baby's behind) every time I used it. This product runs for about $63 dollars. Would I buy it? Yes, after having money left over from paying my bills, and putting a designated amount into my savings account. The smell is hypnotizing. I feel like I am on vacation every time I open it. I definitely recommend it.

Woke up early this morning to catch the Alexander McQueen exhibit before it goes away for good (Tomorrow is the last day). I have not been going to museums like that since I have not had the time. Good thing I went this weekend. I had no idea that if you show your Bank of America card you get in free at participating museums during the first weekend of every month. I was able to see the exhibit for FREE , how awesome is that? Anywho. The line was INSANE ! I waited on it for about 3 hours and a half but it was totally worth it. I was not able to take photos of course (though i did manage to sneak in a pic of my fav outfit). It was just awesome. McQueen had such a talent to work with feathers, shells, basically anything you can think of. I am glad that I had the patience to wait on that line.

Outfit of the Day - COMPLEJO Exhibit edition

I went to the COMPLEJO opening the other night with my sister and cousin. COMPLEJO by Tony Peralta explores complexes people of color have regarding hair texture, skin color and etc. It was inspired by the recent controversy sourounding Sammy Sosa , the Dominican former Major League Baseball star who used chemical products to lighten his skin and straighten his naturally curly hair. If you did not know already Tony is also the designer behind The Peralta Project. Yeah, the mastermind behind the famous "Defend Uptown" t-shirts and tanks everyone has been wearing in The Heights. You can now check out the exhibit at the NoMAA Gallery at 178 Bennett Avenue @189th street (3rd floor).

As you know it has been 10 years since Alicia Keys put out her first album, Songs of a minor.Most of us have fallen in love with her and her music since day one. One of my good friends Georgette Cline, had the amazing opportunity to interview the fabulous Alicia Keys in person!
I have been watching YouTube fashion and beauty videos. One girl I have been watching from the beginning and who always keeps me paying attention (because I do tend to get distracted a lot) has been Dulce Candy . Yes. That is her real name, and she is not a stripper! Dulce is in the American Army and has just become a new mommy. Going on to her blog this week has motivated me to get back on my game (I am going to admit that I have been slippin' ). While keeping family first, Dulce has been climbing up that ladder of success like never before within the last few months.
Another one of my good friends, Heavy Hitter Laura Stylez has joined the Hot 97 family. You can now log on to her blog, The Hip Hop News to stay up to date on the latest. You can also see Laura wearing the Endless Noise NYC Sforsand Necklace on the Fashion Camera at Hot 97's Summer Jam.
How many of you are very attached to your cell phones, i pads, laptops, etc? I know I am definately attached to my cell phone , constantly having it in my hand. I have been trying to get into the habit of putting it away for a couple of hours at a time. Why do I always have to be within the reach of others? That is the point some hotels are making! Some hotels are offering discounts or freebies if you check in your electronic devices as soon as you check into the hotel so that you can get the FULL relaxation instead of the partial relaxation you get when you have your cell phone at hand.

There is a new Monday party that is about to launch uptown hosted by one of my cool friends, Francis . The Party is to be called "Banjee". You have to check out the video to see why. The reason Francis decided to start this weekly event at Apt 78 , was he wanted to set an environment where EVERYONE can come together and have a great time, regardless of sexual orientation. This party is to encourage everyone to come together and break that sense of segregation where Gays feel as if they need to go to a Gay club or bar to feel comfortable. They want their Gay night to be about a celebration for ALL. The party will take place every Monday from 9pm - 2am at Apt 78 lounge (4447 Broadway New York, NY 10040)

I came across some tickets (shout out to Joey) for the N.E.R.D. concert sponsored by COORS LIGHT and HOT 97 and took a bunch of my friends with me. Some of them met for the first time and I must say they clicked very well. It's dope when that happens. It means that I select the right people to be friends with. That is very important in life. When Pharrell said, " I was in a room with a bunch of eclectic, vibrant people. Who are proud to be intelligent and speak articulately. We don't get embarrassed because we read books." , he described my friends and I, in the most perfect way.
We had such a good time ! I am usually the kind of girl who likes to stay all the way in the back during concerts because I do not like people on me like that. Thank goodness it was not over capacity and we actually had space to stand in the front. Check out the footage below !
